“It is the most beautiful iMac we have ever made,” announced Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller. “There’s an entire computer in there […] it’s hard to believe there is even a display in here.”
The iMac will come with 21.5-inch and 27-inch displays, with either an Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processor and integrated GPU.
The screen resolutions are the same as the previous generation’s 1920-by-1080 and 2560-by-1440 pixel counts.
Besides four USB 3.0 ports, it also includes Thunderbolt, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire 800 ports, and an SD card slot.
What is new to the sleek PC is the new Apple Fusion Drive, which combines 128 gigabytes of Flash with a one terabyte or 3TB hard-disk drive (HDD) in a single volume for better performance.
Other features include dual microphones, a FaceTime HD camera, headphone jack and better stereo speakers.
The 21.5-inch iMac is priced at $1,299, and should begin shipping in November.
The 27-inch iMac starts at $1,799 and will ship in December.
