According to a survey of 70 Apple stores conducted by Gene Munster and his team of analysts at Piper Jaffray to check on availability of the new iPhone, supply is generally constrained for AT&T and Verizon.

The survey also found that the inventory for Sprint’s version is improving.

The firm also conducted a poll of 738 U.S. customers and found that demand for the iPhone 5 is rising.

The poll showed that 55 % of those surveyed chose the iPhone 5 for their next smartphone purchase, which is up from the 48% revealed in a poll conducted prior to the device’s September launch.

“We believe the incremental strength in iPhone 5 demand following the product launch, despite the reported supply and Maps issues, suggests that demand for the phone remains strong,” Gene Munster wrote in an investor note Friday.
