According to a Telecoms report, a representative at Swisscom, a Swiss carrier, said that “Apple only enables 4G access after testing their device on an operator’s live network.”
Swisscom will offer the iPhone 5 with LTE compatibility “in due course.”
Bengt Nordstrom, founder and CEO at industry consultancy NorthStream, told the site that he was shocked when he heard about the policy.
“Apple have put themselves in the driving seat; it’s really changing the game,” he said, adding that this proved, “who is running the industry.”
The Cupertino tech giant has yet to comment on the news.
