Xiaojie Li, a 44-year-old woman, tried to acquire more iPhones than the store’s policy allows.
She bought two smartphones and then came back the next day to get 2 other iPhone 5s she had reserved online.
However, she was informed by Apple staff that she had reached the two-per-customer limit.
As she couldn’t understand the situation (she isn’t proficient in English), the management of the store saw fit to call a police in the mall to reason with Li.
“The officer approached her, told her she wasn’t welcome in the store, and she refused to leave,” Nashua police captain Bruce Hansen told WCVB TV, who interviewed Li about the arrest.
The police tried to get her to leave but she refused and was eventually tasered.
They also claimed to have found she was carrying over $16,000 in cash.
Her fiance, John Hugo, told WCVB-TV that Li has been “brutalized by the police.”
“Is that proper procedure, really? Beating up a helpless woman? I beg to differ,” he said.
