The rumored release date is set for June 2013, when a new high-end model, but also a low-end one, is believed to be unveiled.
Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley expects a new “higher-end iPhone” to be launched in the June quarter and believes that a lower-end iPhone could also be in production.
“We believe Apple could launch a higher-end iPhone model by the June quarter versus its more typical September/October timing for a new iPhone launch,” Walkley wrote. “We also believe Apple could potentially launch a lower-end iPhone focused on more price-sensitive pre-paid markets, as we believe consumers in markets such as China, Latin America and Eastern Europe would have very strong demand for a more affordably priced 3G iPhone.”
Analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets recently speculated that the rumored iPhone 5S will be completely different from its predecessors.
The analyst expects the handset to come in a range of colors as rich as the current version of the iPod Touch.
Walkles estimated his Buy rating on Apple shares at a 12-month price target of $750.
