Digitimes reported on Tuesday that a low-cost iPhone with a 5-inch screen could be launched in the second half of this year.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the iPhone will resemble the basic model, but it will be developed with less-expensive materials.
The case could be made of polycarbonate instead of the aluminum used for the iPhone 5.
Other materials for this cheaper iPhone could come from recycled old models.
Apple’s purpose with the low-cost iPhone is to attract new customers who can’t afford the latest iPhone, especially economically booming countries like China where the market is still open, The Washington Post reports.
However, no such information has been confirmed by Apple yet.
