In a note to investors today he said that production for the successor to the iPhone 5 will start in March, with a launch date schedule for June / July.
Misek also indicates that Apple is testing two devices to date, the supposed iPhone 5S and another one.
He believes that the iPhone 6, the next generation of Apple’s smartphone, will have a larger screen of 4.8 inches.
The analyst also estimates that Apple is working on a low-cost iPhone that could be targeting emerging markets such as China.
“Similar to the iPad mini, we expect a concentrated low-cost iPhone rather than a ‘cheap’ one,” he said. “Likely specs: polycarbonate case with 4″ non-Retina display and no LTE.”
He believes such a device would have a valuable impact on Apple’s smartphone market share, but it could also decrease the company’s gross margins.
