Her personal quotes shows seriousness and maturity:
“I did not expect to be number one again, I am just so happy,” Carly said at The X Factor.
“I can’t get too comfortable, I can’t take anything for granted,” she continued.
“I have to work even harder for next week,” the 13-year-old singer added.
Talented, ambitious, very charismatic, at only 13, Carly has accomplished what others don’t get to do in a lifetime, and her journey in music and acting has just begun.
Carly was born April 20, 1999 in New York City. She currently lives in Mamaroneck, NY, and is an eighth grader.
She has an18-year-old brother Russel, that she adores and to whom she dedicated her performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at The X Factor. She loves softball, acting and music.
“I love music,” she said about one of her passions. “I just sing from my heart.”
She began singing at the age of two, imitating singers from “American Idol.” Her brother, Russ acted as a judge, pretending to be Simon Cowell.
Her parents are very proud and supportive of her: “I’m so proud of you, and I’ve always I told you this. Not because the results of anything of you’ve ever done, but because of the work you put into it, and the effort you put into it. That’s what makes me be the proudest. I’ll always be there,” her dad said.
“If she gets four yes-es, I’ll be the proudest mom in the world, but I already am,” her mom said.
Carly sang the U.S. National Anthem at various events, for the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, at the US Open in New York City and for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
In 2006, at only 7 she landed a performing role in “The Night of the Hunter” in which she played the role of Pearl at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
In the same year she debuted in “Les Miserables” as Young Cosette on Broadway. Also, she performed in “Little House on the Prairie” and appeared in the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.”
In December 2012 she took part in the second season of The X Factor, where she left the judges deeply impressed with the song “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone, among others.
At the time she received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges. Carly’s mentor Britney Spears called her “a little diva” and L.A. Reid called her a “star” with an “old soul.”
Also, Demi and Simon jokingly called her an alien referring to Carly’s magnificent interpretation.
“You’re an alien or something, but it’s okay because I love aliens,” Demi Lovato said.
“You are the best alien I’ve ever heard sing in my life,” Simon continued.
“I’ve got to tell you, I’ve heard that song a lot of times [and] that was one of the best versions of it I’ve ever heard. Seriously, amazing,” he added.
Carly has performed Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me”, Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and many more.
Involved in a various charities, Carly is an Ambassador for The Starlight Children’s Foundation of NY/NJ and CT. She performed at the K.I.D.S. Fashion Delivers benefit.
Carly Rose Sonenclar‘s dreams are coming true! Not only is she recording original music, but she is getting to meet some of her musical idols like British singer Ed Sheeran!
Recently, she and her brother Russ covered Justin Nozuka’s “After Tonight” combined with a verse from Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble”.
As usual Carly has left us speechless and the duet with her brother was magnificent.
