Xbox 720 rumors: Internet connection required?

According to Edge, playing the Xbox 720 will require an always-on internet connection for a very specific reason: to check disc registration in order to function.

The user must use a single-use code found in the boxes of new games that require the presence of internet to be validated.

In addition, the new iteration of Xbox Live has a prominent place in the software environment of the console, which operates largely on a basis of connected features.

The sources also confirmed that the rumored capabilities of the Xbox 720 (codenamed Durango) that were recently leaked are true.

These specs include a 1.6GHz eight-core AMD CPU, D3D11.x 800MHz graphics and 8GB.

An improved version of the Kinect camera is also rumored to be sold with the console.
