Xbox 720 rumors – blocking of used games may affect demand

A recent report stated that the next Xbox will be unable to play used games.

In an interview with Bloomberg on Friday, GameStop spokesman Matt Hodges said that interest in a console that limits the use of pre-owned games is likely to decrease.

“We know the desire to purchase a next-generation console would be significantly diminished if new consoles were to prohibit playing pre-owned games, limit portability or not play new physical games,” Hodges said in an e-mail.

According to a report by video-game website Edge.com stating that the Xbox 720 will block game resales, GameStop fell 6% to $25.20.
