Sony unveiled PlayStation 4 at a press conference in New York City yesterday.
Besides introducing the console’s new features, Sony also announced the release of a PlayStation App for iOS, according to Engadget.
The application will sere as a second-screen experience app, similar to Microsoft’s Xbox SmartGlass.
“A new application from SCE called “PlayStation®App” will enable iPhone, iPad, and Android based smartphones and tablets to become second screens. Once installed on these devices, users can, for example, see maps on their second screens when playing an adventure game, purchase PS4 games while away from home and download it directly to the console at home, or remotely watch other gamers playing on their devices.”
Details on the new app’s availability, price and features haven’t been released yet.
The PlayStation 4 will be released ahead of the holiday season this year.
