Michael Haneke’s “Amour” has a total of five nominations and recounts the story of a retired music teacher that has to cope with with the debilitating effects of two strokes.

Ang Lee is nominated for best director for the film “Life of Pi” which is based on the bestselling book of the same name.

David O.Russel is in the run for the best director award with the movie “Silver Linings Playbook,” while Ben Zeitlin entered the category with the movie “Beasts of the Southern Wild.”
