Oscar 2013 winners: Jennifer Lawrence wins Best Actress

6 is the age of the youngest actresses who won an Oscar – Shirley Temple in 1935, while actor Eli Herschel Wallach was the oldest to be awarded an Academy Award at 94 in 2010.

The Oscar for best actress in a leading role was coveted by Jennifer Lawrence, a widow and a recovering sex addict in the comedy “Silver Linings Playbook” and by Jessica Chastain, a CIA analyst who follows Osama bin Laden in “Zero Dark Thirty,” among others.

French actress Emmanuelle Riva was also among the favorites, playing the role of a sick woman at the end of her life in “Amour,” and who turned 86 on the day the Academy Awards event.
