According to hedge fund manager Douglas Kass, there are rumors that Apple may announce a stock split before the general meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
“High above the Alps my Gnome is hearing a rumor that Apple will announce a stock split at tomorrow’s shareholder meeting,” Kass tweeted.
Following his tweet, the stock moved from down $5 to up $5.
Kass has defended his claim against skeptics, arguing that the rumors were “all over the Street”.
Apple made three stock splits in its history, each a 2-for-1 move. The last one was in February 28, 2005, while the other two were held on June 21, 2000, and June 16, 1987.
