The China Times reports that Taiwanese society Chipbond has been selected by Apple to provide a number of components, including chips for fingerprint recognition and NFC support.

Such an appointment suggests that Apple could use the fingerprint sensor as an enhanced security feature for mobile payment.

Cupertino is expected to use these two technologies to allow users to make safe mobile payments.

Last year Apple acquired AuthenTec, a company specializing in fingerprint sensor security, sparking rumors that they might use the technology in the iPhone 5S.
