“He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
This is the second time he checks into rehab, the first was when he was 19.
Monteith has spoken in the past about his struggle with substance addiction, hoping this advice will help others.
“I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too,” the Glee star said.
“But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it,” he added.
His girlfriend and Glee costar Lea Michele supports him at this difficult time and is proud for this decision.
