The Oscar winner was detained for disorderly conduct while her husband was arrested for DUI. They were both released on bond a short time later.
The cops pulled them over and questioned the actress’ husband, Jim Toth, for driving in the wrong lane.
That’s when Reese began to let fly at law enforcement representatives.
According to TMZ, the actress started acting up, asking the police officers: “Do you know my name?”
An officer replied to her: “No, I don’t need to know your name.”
The actress, 37, continued: “You’re about to find out who I am … You are going to be on national news.”
After the incident, the actress apologized in a statement:
“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said.”
“It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
On Sunday night, the actress and her husband seemed to have put the incident behind them as they attended the premiere of her latest movie, Mud.
After posing for cameras, she entered the theater without giving interviews.
