According to DigiTimes, LG and Sharp have already been selected by Apple to take care of the production of screens for the next-generation iPad mini.
AU Optronics, another subcontractor who delivers panels for the iPad mini today, has “faced issues” in the production of display for the mini tablet.
Apple has yet to make a decision on the continuation of this partnership and the production of screens for the iPad mini with AUO could be reduced or even canceled for the next quarter.
The report states the device is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2013.
This coincides with Tim Cook’s statements announcing that new products won’t be introduced until the fall.
