Sony’s intent to present a new watch model was hinted at on the company’s Twitter account through several suggestive tweets.
The device is expected to be unveiled at next week’s Mobile Asia Expo 2013 event, held in Shanghai from June 26 to 28.
CNET managed to gather some information from a source that previously provided accurate information about new Sony products.
The insider revealed that the smartwatch will be equipped with NFC and Bluetooth, making the pairing with smartphones easier.
In addition, it will be larger than the current MN2SW SmartWatch, minimally water-resistant and it will run a version of Android.
Other features include a capacitive touch screen and a three-icon layout below the screen.
This new generation watch is a successor to the Sony SmartWatch MN2SW, currently priced at around $100.
