Johnny Depp opens up about split from Vanessa Paradis and their kids

Depp and Paradis went separate ways a year ago, and the 50-year-old actor confessed that their children, Lily-Rose, 12 and Jack, 11, were very understanding.

“We were just very truthful with them and they were just incredibly understanding, incredibly accepting. I was extremely proud of them, the way they dealt with it,” Depp told CBS This Morning.

The actor admits that the best policy is telling the truth, which is what they applied.

“When you have children, there is no room for lies, no room for anything but the truth. Anything other than that is a bad example, I believe,” the actor said.

In June, Depp broke the silence on his separation from Vanessa Paradis.

“The last couple years have been a bit bumpy,” Depp told the Rolling Stone magazine.

“At times, certainly unpleasant, but that’s the nature of breakups, I guess, especially when there are kiddies involved,” the actor added.

“Relationships are very difficult. Especially in the racket that I’m in because you’re constantly away or they’re away and so it’s hard. It wasn’t easy on her. It wasn’t easy on me. It wasn’t easy on the kids. So, yeah. The trajectory of that relationship – you play it out until it goes, one thing leads to another,” he concluded.

Vanessa Paradis, 40, and Johnny Depp, 50, met in 1998, after the actor separated from British model Kate Moss.
