According to the autopsy and toxicological examination, Cory, 31, died from a mixture of drugs, including heroin and alcohol.
The actor tried to battle his drug addiction and checked himself into rehab last spring.
In a 2011 interview with Parade magazine, Cory opened up about his drug problems: “I’m lucky on so many counts—I’m lucky to be alive.”
His parents divorced when he was 7 years old, and at 13 he started skipping school to drink and smoke pot.
“I burned a lot of bridges,” he says. “I was out of control.”
The actor said he tried all kinds of drugs: “Anything and everything, as much as possible,” he says. “I had a serious problem.”
Ironically, the last role he played was that of a drug addict in the film McCanick. Producers have released a short video clip after the actor’s death.
Cory Monteith, 31, was found dead on Saturday night in a hotel room in Vancouver.
