Chinese platform WeiPhone posted a photo showing packaging with the name “iPhone 5C” but the authenticity of the images cannot be confirmed.
For its “S” lineup, Apple announced that the letter meant “Speed.”
The “C” on the boxes may stand for “Color’ or ‘plastiC’ or ‘China’ or ‘Cheap’ or ‘Consumer,’ 9to5Mac notes.
The packaging could perhaps hold the device, as well as accessories and documentation.
Leaked pictures of what is presumed to be the rear shells for the cheaper iPhone appeared online earlier this month.
