Selena complained in an interview with the New York Daily News that she has difficulties in dealing with the negative headlines about her in the media.
“It does get to me. I’m a human and I feel those emotions of when people talk about you,” the 21-year-old tells The News. “It’s never a good feeling cause half the time it’s just bull, it’s not real.”
Gomez explains that even the most ordinary actions spark the craziest speculations.
“In the real world I’ll drive my car to the grocery store and buy myself some food,” she says. “In the media world it’s like, ‘Oohhh, I drive my car to go somewhere secretive.’ It gets too clouded so I just have good people around me.”
The majority of the rumors came from her on-again/off-again relationship with pop sensation Justin Bieber.
“I’m very picky, though. I’m confident and I believe that you should have somebody who really does love you for who you are,” Selena says of starting a new relationship. “That’s the hardest part just trying to find someone that will just love the core person and not anything else around it.”
But the actress is determined to focus on her career and in that respect she has reasons to be happy as her “Stars Dance” album has recently topped the Billboard 200 chart.
“It felt good, but I was still a little nervous because his following is very passionate and very committed,” she says. “I did not think at all I’d get No. 1. It was such a crazy feeling and after four records having the fourth be No. 1 … it felt like I tried all styles of music and kept going until I got my sound.”
