The fashion house was inspired by a statement made by the legendary actress in an interview for Marie Claire in 1960.
Chanel discovered a recording of an interview granted by the actress in 1960 to Georges Belmont, editor of Marie Claire magazine, in which she revealed the special place that the famous perfume occupied in her wardrobe.
“You know, they ask me questions,” she explains in the audio. “Just an example: ‘What do you wear to bed ? A pajama top? The bottoms of the pajamas? A nightgown?’ So I said, ‘Chanel No. 5,’ because it’s the truth… And yet, I don’t want to say ‘nude’. But it’s the truth!”
Previously, Brad Pitt was the image of the Chanel No. 5 fragrance.
Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou also modeled for Chanel No. 5 in the past.
