According to sources cited by 9to5Mac, the company will soon offer services of parts replacement in its retail stores.
The initiative is said to be part of Apple’s efforts to reduce repair costs for the devices.
The report claims special machinery will be brought in stores to calibrate the displays on the iPhone 5S and 5C, at a cost of $149 for each device.
Other iPhone components that Apple will offer to repair include the volume buttons, vibrating motor, rear-camera, and speaker system.
For iPhone 5S or 5C units under an AppleCare warranty, part replacements caused by defects will be free. If the device is under no warranty, each part replacement will come with a price.
