Jake Gyllenhaal was seriously wounded in the hand by hitting a mirror. The accident occurred on the set of his latest film Nightcrawler in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
“Jake flipped out,” a source told People. “His character was looking into a mirror during the scene and punched the mirror in anger and broke it, cutting himself so bad he had to be taken to a hospital.”
The 32-year-old reportedly received stitches in the emergency room, but he was able to come back on set later that day.
“The scene was emotionally charged and his character was talking into a mirror and he got so into it, he banged his hands against the mirror and it broke and cut him,” the source said. “It was all the scene and not because he was mad about anything else.”
In the film, Jake Gyllenhaal plays the role of a freelance journalist in the middle of investigating a crime in Los Angeles.
