Penélope Cruz reveals she’s addicted to breastfeeding

“I was breastfeeding my son for 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter,” the Oscar winner tells the magazine.

Already a mother to a boy named Leo, Penélope gave birth to little Luna Encinas Cruz on July 22, exactly the same day as the royal baby.

The actress tells the magazine that this breastfeeding addiction is not about losing weight.

“I’m supposed to get extra calories because, breastfeeding, you burn, like, an extra 500 a day.”

Cruz also opened up about her own childhood in the interview. “In my house every Sunday, everybody was cleaning the house. There was always music, and everybody was dancing, sometimes naked around the house. Not hippie, but very free.”

Married since 2010 with fellow actor Javier Bardem, Penélope has less free time to devote to friends like Salma Hayek.

“She’s one of my best friends. We call each other huevos [eggs]. It was because when we were working together, we didn’t have children yet, so we used to sleep much more than now. So it was a way to call each other lazy. We slept in the same bed so many times and it was like she was always trying to wake me up and call me huevos.”
