The company announced that the new display protector can already go into production.
This is a special technology that allows for being scratch and damage resistant and adaptable to any type of device, even curved ones that are estimated to grow exponentially in the coming months.
Market watchers, including Daisuke Wakabayashi, believe that Corning’s 3D glass panels will benefit the rumored iPhone 6 and iWatch.
In the press release, Corning didn’t disclose whether they will cooperate with Apple, but Wakabayashi associates the iWatch and a curved iPhone with the new tech.
“An iWatch and a curved iPhone with a bigger display are among the most-mentioned possible products for Apple’s pipeline this year. Both are expected to require a curved display, a feature currently missing from Apple’s existing line-up,” he writes.
