Citing unnamed industry sources, a report by The Korea Herald claims the device will pack a fingerprint scanner, despite reports that it could come with an iris scanner.
The publication writes that the retinal scanning technology is currently underdeveloped.
An iris scanner wouldn’t be intuitive enough for the user, and the camera architecture should be fundamentally changed.
Phone Arena contradicts the report from The Korea Herald, and based on claims from an insider, the site reports that the device will bring a 2K QHD display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 2900mAh battery, a 20-megapixel camera and a “state of the art iris sensor and wide range of health accessories.”
The smartphone will be available in a plastic variant and with a design that is different from its predecessor.
Another Korean publication, ET News, suggests the S5 will come with improved Air Gestures support.
