Galaxy S5 release date rumors: April launch with February 23 unveiling

Eldar Murtazin, editor at Russian site Mobile-Review, has tweeted the launch date when the Korean manufacturer will introduce its Galaxy S5.

The event, he says, will be held at 6:00 p.m. local time in the city of Barcelona, on February 23rd, ​​which is the day before the opening of MWC 2014.

Murtazin claims the handset will arrive on the market somewhere at the “end of April.”

The blogger also tweeted that a new version of TouchWizz could be in the pipeline.

“Samsung Galaxy S5 launch – 18.00. Barcelona. 23 February. Price the same. Launch – end of April. Specs – u know them new touchwiz,” he wrote.

The report echoes statements made recently by Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of the mobile division, who spoke about a presentation of the device in March and April.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to pack a 5.25-inch screen, 4GB of RAM, a 20 megapixel camera, a fingerprint sensor and a 2900 mAh battery.
