iPhone 6 rumors: leaked photos allegedly from Foxconn, show protruding camera

Several pictures that were allegedly taken at Foxconn, Apple’s main iPhone supplier, were posted on Weibo (via GforGames), the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, and they seem to show the iPhone 6 in production.

The device shown has metal body similar as a format to the iPhone 5S, but apparently a little larger.

It can be difficult to project which display size the handset in the photos has.

The casing has rounded corners like the 5C and a camera lens protrudes slightly, like on the current iPod Touch.

It’s hard to say whether these images are fake or not as the device pictured may very well be a prototype of the iPhone 6.

French site nowhereelse.fr and designer Martin Hajek have created several 3D renderings of the iPhone 6 based on leaked schematics that emerged last week.

iPhone 6 concept presents edge-to-edge display, dual screen

Designer Sahanan Yogarasa has imagined an iPhone 6 which incorporates a slide out secondary display.

He equipped the ultra-thin mockup with two 5-inch Ultra retina screens capable of displaying 4K resolution.

Based on recent rumors, the designer also equipped the smartphone with a 2.3GHz quad-core A8 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera and a thickness of only 5.23 mm.

The Home button has also been revamped and the handset is made available in different colors, including red, green and blue.

The device is aluminum-made and also features a Touch ID fingerprint reader and wireless battery charging.

Pharrell Williams confirmed as coach on The Voice season 7

“Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO #HAPPY to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS = #NewVoiceCoach for SEASON 7,” NBC announced Monday on Twitter.

NBC/TWITTER

“This is going to be so fun,” Williams replied on his Twitter account, while coach Adam Levine wrote, “Welcome to the circus dude!”

Williams was previously a guest mentor for Usher in season 4 of the popular show.

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are the only coaches present in all seasons so far.

iPhone 6 concept based on recently leaked schematics

Based on the schematics that were revealed by Japanese magazine MacFan and collected by Mac Otakara, NoWhereElse and designer Martin Hajek have come up with 3D renderings of what could be the iPhone 6.

The handset is presented in two versions with edge-to-edge display diagonals measuring 4.7 and 5.5 inches and the thickness of the model doesn’t exceed 67.1 millimeters.

The rounded edges are reminiscent of the first-generation iPhone.

In addition, the volume buttons are no longer separated and a sapphire glass backing protects the device.

Apple Arizona sapphire plant to expand

Apple together with GT Advanced Technologies are working around the clock to finish building the factory.

AppleInsider indicates that the two companies have already launched expansion plans for the site.

This seems to indirectly confirm that Apple is looking to implement sapphire glass in its future devices such as the iPhone 6 or iWatch.

The plant will reportedly employ 700 people and contain equipment capable of producing up to 200 million sapphire glass panels annually.

A report by DigiTimes Research earlier this month claimed that GT Advanced will only manufacture from 9% to 16% of sapphire displays for the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 rumors: Japan Display announced 5.5-inch screen

Japan Display

Japan Display, a major supplier of iPhone displays, has announced a new 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1,440x 2,560 pixels.

The company will start shipping the 5.5-inch display in April.

Paul Semenza, senior vice president at NPD DisplaySearch believes that the display produced by Japan Display could be implemented in the iPhone 6.

“Typically, Apple wants ‘first dibs’ on the new part, so it’s a little surprising that JDI (Japan Display, Inc.) is announcing this now…We don’t expect to see the iPhone 6 until 2H 14,” he said.

“There is also a possibility of another spec — a 4.7″ 1,600×900 [display]. As always, Apple runs parallel development programs, to test out which is the best approach or just to try to confuse the rest of the world,” he explained.

Apple is expected to launch 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone displays.

iPhone 6 rumors: release date, specs, concepts and others

iPhone 6 concept

The possible launch date of the device was in the news this week, with reports pointing to a September timeframe.

Japanese newspaper Nikkei claimed that the device is set to arrive in September in two sizes: a 4.7-inch screen and a second larger 5.5-inch model.

Mass production of screens is set to begin between April and June.

UBS analyst Steve Milunovich also believes Apple is set to release a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 but only one of them will be unveiled in the fall.

He expects the 4.7-inch model to be released sometime between the months of August and September, but the 5.5-inch variant “may or may not launch at the same time.”

Several leaks surfaced online this week.

A leaked iPhone 6 prototype posted on a Japanese case maker’s website revealed the handset’s possible design to be bigger and slightly wider than the current model.

French site Nowhereelse.fr published what appears to be a data sheet showing the dimensions and a schematic illustration of the next iPhone.

The document was leaked off of a Chinese website and it claims the device will be 150 mm long and 85 mm wide.

Mac Otakara reported that the latest issue of Japanese magazine MacFan published images of the iPhone 6C.

The drawings reveal 4.7 and 5.7-inch displays on bezel-free devices with rectangle-shaped volume controls and a camera with a single LED-flash on the rear among others.

In terms of specs, sources cited by AppleInsider claim that focus will be placed on the quality of the components of the smartphone’s camera rather than the number of megapixels.

A report by Digitimes claimed that Apple plans to move production of all batteries for iPhone on automated lines which could make space for the production of other components by reducing the use of labor.

Rumors that Apple is planning to replace Corning Gorilla Glass with sapphire crystal were fueled this week with a new patent filed by the company

The document describes the process for applying an oleophobic coating on a thin layer of synthetic sapphire, which is applied to smartphone and tablets displays, in order to avoid having fingerprints or stains on the surface of the device.

In addition, a new survey data by Raymond James analyst Tavis McCourt found that 33% of iPhone users would fork an extra $100 for an iPhone with a bigger display.

Finally, two concepts presented the iPhone 6 in accordance with recent speculation.

The first was a rectangular design mockup created by iCulture and Martin Hajek, that draws inspiration from the seventh-generation iPod nano.

The second was authored by SET Solution and it’s a summary of the latest rumors online.

iPhone 6C schematics for 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch models leak online

According to Mac Otakara, the latest issue of MacFan contains images of the low-cost version of the future smartphone.

The drawings show two smartphones with 4.7 and 5.7-inch displays on bezel-free devices with rectangle-shaped volume controls.

A camera with a single LED-flash on the rear is also listed among the specs.

The dimensions of the smaller version are 137×66 mm in length and 7.0 mm thick. The bigger model measures 157×77 mm and is 6.7 mm thick.

Last month Mac Otakara reported that the iPhone 5C could be released in 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch versions.

iPhone 6 concept design presents new realistic perspective

The Italian designers imagined the iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch sapphire display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, occupying almost the entire area of the front panel.

The device has the quad-core 64-bit A8 processor produced using the 20nm process, a 10-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.8 enabling users to take high quality pictures in low light conditions.

The dimensions of the handset are 132.7 x 65.2 x 6.0 mm, which means larger and thinner when compared to the iPhone 5S that measures 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm.

Earlier this month the same designers came up with the idea of an iPhone with hologram projection.
