The last film in which Murphy starred, Something Wicked, finally has a release date.

At the time of her death in December 2009, Brittany Murphy had just finished filming Something Wicked.

Producer and screenwriter Joe Colleran confessed that reworking on the film was emotional.

He describes the movie as a “psychological thriller about a young couple embarking on their honeymoon against their parents’ wishes. When the parents are tragically taken in an auto accident, gruesome secrets from the couple’s past come back to haunt them and ensure this couple does not live happily ever after.”

Colleran says Brittany’s part was that of “a psychiatrist who observes the couple’s deteriorating relationship and sets out to determine what sinister forces are driving the madness.”

“I would describe Brittany’s performance as the most chilling performance of her career,” he said.

Brittany Murphy died at 32 from pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication.

Her husband, Simon Monjack, died five months later under similar circumstances, of acute pneumonia and severe anemia.

Last year, Murphy’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, claimed that his daughter had been poisoned. His claims were later dismissed by the county coroner.
