According to DigiTimes, Apple apparently wants to move production of all batteries for iPhone on automated lines.
This will reduce the use of labor which could subsequently make space for the production of other components.
The software giant already automates the production of the new iMac and Mac Pro.
The report also adds that Cupertino is unlikely to relocate all of its production iPhone in the US as most of its suppliers are located in China.
The automation of battery production will also help Apple bring the iPhone launch to take place sooner, most likely in the fall.
