This will be her third movie as a director, and the pop legend, 55, will collaborate for this new project with producer Bruce Cohen, who also produced American Beauty and Silver Linings Playbook.
The book “Ade: A Love Story” is based on writer Rebecca Walker’s life experience, the central theme being a love story between an American student – who is traveling with a companion in Africa – and a young Swahili man. The two intend to get married, but their love gets sabotaged by cultural and political forces.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madonna and Bruce Cohen are looking for a screenwriter to adapt the original book.
Madonna previously directed another love story movie, W.E. in 2011, which described the relationship between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.
