Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White has brought in talks with Chinese mobile operators who say there has been a sense of “disappointment” regarding the iPhone 5S that includes a display which is too small.
Asian manufacturers such as Lenovo, Huawei or ZTE are currently having success on the market in China and sales of these devices have an impact on Apple and Samsung.
But expectations for the iPhone 6 are now running high as the sources expect a bigger display to grant the device a great success.
“In our view, the iPhone 6 with a larger screen (e.g., 4.7-inch, 5.5-inch) has the potential to meaningfully accelerate Apple’s growth trajectory in China during (the second half of 2014),” White said. “We have not heard this type of excitement in China around the iPhone in at least two years and thus believe this could be a very special iPhone launch for Apple.”
According to White, Cupertino needs to equip the iPhone 6 with a 5-inch display to expand its Chinese market.
