Apple’s manufacturing partner, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has delivered the first batch of Touch ID fingerprint sensors, according to Chinese site cecb2b.com.
The site claims that this first batch was created to be used in the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
The report adds that the sensors are being assembled by two of TSMC’s subsidiaries: Xintec and Suzhou Crystal Semiconductor.
Previous reports have indicated that TSMC will start production of the Touch ID sometime in the second quarter.
According to recent information from the Commercial Times, Pegatron will be responsible for 15% of the orders for the iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display.
