iPhone 6 rumors: Apple could implement on-cell displays

iPhone 6 concept

According to sources cited by the Chinese media [via GforGames], Apple has chosen to implement on-cell instead of in-cell technology to manufacture the screen of the upcoming iPhone 6.

Specifically, the on-cell tech allows a manufacturer to move the touchpad in the exterior glass of the device (whether it is Gorilla Glass or a sapphire layer) and at the same time create better displays.

An advantage of this new feature is that the iPhone 6 would respond more quickly to inputs and simultaneously allow even better color representation.

In addition, the transition to on-cell technology is that it would significantly reduce the thickness of the device.

Reports claim that LG Display, Japan Display and Innolux will produce the iPhone 6 screen which will include the rumored new on-cell technology.
