Apple could be working on Macs based on ARM chips

According to French site MacBidouille, Apple is working on ARM-based Macs as well as a new keyboard for desktop Macs.

A supposedly reliable source told the site that Cupertino has prototypes of various ARM-based Macs in its laboratories.

According to the report, the prototypes used to test the new configuration include the iMac, Mac mini, and 13″ Notebook with 4-8 64-bit ARM Quad-core processors.

In addition, the manufacturer could implement a Magic Trackpad into the keyboard of the new ARM-powered Macs.

A “completely equivalent” version of OS X was equally advanced in development.

Rumors that Apple wants to separate from Intel have been around for long. Now it seems the shift may finally take place.
