Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie join Star Wars: Episode VII

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” Kathleen Kennedy, Star Wars: Episode VII producer and Lucasfilm president said in a statement.

“It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape,” he added.

For now it is unknown what role Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will take on in “Star Wars: Episode 7”. It was rumored that Nyong’o might play Obi-Wan Kenobi’s granddaughter.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams, and the cast also includes Oscar Isaac, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Max von Sydow, John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill.

The script is written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan.
