Citing supply chain sources, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News that only the hypothetical 5.5-inch iPhone will feature a sapphire display due to production limitations.
The 4.7-inch iPhone will come with the usual Gorilla Glass screen.
Screen suppliers will reportedly include LGD and JDI, and Apple expects to ship 60 million units.
The 5.5-inch phablet iPhone is said to be available in limited supply due to low sapphire yield.
Regarding the iWatch, LG Display is known to have tried to meet Cupertino’s requirements of almost no energy use in standby mode for the display.
The report adds that the initial production would be 10 million units by the end of the year.
Quanta is responsible for the assembly of most of the iWatch volume, with Inventec as support.
