iPhone 6, iPad Air rumored to feature improved Touch ID

According to a report from China Times (via GforGames), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will begin supplying the Touch ID sensor in early July.

The report added that Q3 production will be more than double compared to the previous quarter.

The company is preparing to provide 120 million Touch ID sensors this year, or a 233% increase compared to last year.

The production would be enough to equip the next iPhone, but also the iPad Air and the Retina iPad mini.

The internal components of the sensors are also expected to be more durable and they will be manufactured at TSMC’s expanded 8-inch chip fabrication plant.
