iPhone 6 rumors: Apple reportedly places orders for 68 million new iPhone units

According to Taiwan’s Business Weekly [GforGames], Apple has ordered its Asian suppliers 68 million iPhone 6 units to prepare for its launch.

That makes twice the orders placed for the iPhone 5 in 2012.

The report doesn’t mention whether both or just one of the two iPhone models are included in this first batch of orders.

The publication also writes that at least one of the iPhone 6 variants is entering mass production this month, which makes an early September release very likely.

Leaked flex cables and front panels for the iPhone 6 that supposedly came directly from Asian production lines have recently invaded the net.
