iPhone 6 launch may not bring reversible USB cable

In recent days, various leaks which allowed the assumption that Apple will introduce a new reversible USB cable with the iPhone 6 emerged.

In a note to investors on Monday [via AppleInsider], KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo believes that the Lightning cable won’t be supplied with the smartphone.

“We don’t expect the USB power adapter and Lightning cable for iPhone 6 to have significant design changes,” Kuo said.

The reasons the analyst cites are “cost concerns and limited improvements to overall user experience that such changes would bring.”

The report follows rumors about the arrival of a new Lightning connector with a reversible USB cable, as well as a USB adapter for the iPhone, iPod and iPad mini.

The final answer on the power supply of the iPhone 6 and the presence or absence of a reversible USB cable will come on September 9.
