Samsung to build Apple’s A9 chipsets using 14nm processing

Samsung semiconductor president Kim Ki-nam announced that the company’s profits will considerably increase thanks to the collaboration with companies such as Apple, Qualcomm and AMD, ZDNet reports.

The statement was interpreted as a confirmation that the Korean manufacturer will produce the new Apple A9 chip for the next iPhone and iPad in 2015.

The new chips will be manufactured based on the 14nm process and they are set to be 15% smaller than the 20nm chips and deliver 20% more power, Samsung claims.

With the current A8 processor present on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, 30% of the production was assigned to Samsung, with the remaining being handled by TMSC.
