“I know everything about you, obviously, so we had viewers write questions,” DeGeneres said. “One of the main things that everybody is asking me about, and asking you about, and I thought I would let you clear it up, is If we’re having a baby or not? So, I thought maybe you should answer that question.”
“So fun for everybody if we were,” The Scandal actress responded, holding a tabloid in her hands. “And there’s a magazine cover, this one right? Did you see it says ‘they’re finally starting a family!’ Are people really that mad at us?”
“Yeah, we’ve waited way too long,” the host replied.
“Clearly,” her wife added with humor.
“We’re not gonna have a baby?” the comedienne finally asked, to which de Rossi replied: “No, we’re not.”
After this wave of speculation, Portia de Rossi’s sibling wanted to find out if he will have a nephew or niece, so he contacted his sister to see if the rumors are true.
”I will say my brother called me and said ‘I heard I’m gonna be an uncle?’ but there was a tiny little question in the word uncle.. because he didn’t know.. but he’s not gonna read it on the cover of a tabloid,” Portia said.
DeGeneres wrote in her 2011 book, Seriously…I’m Kidding, about what she and her wife think of parenthood.
“We love to be around children after they’ve been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don’t want children of our own. There is far too much glass in our house,” she wrote.
