Apple’s 12-inch MacBook Air rumors suggest major redesign

Now 9to5Mac has published information and a set of exclusive artist renditions of the revamped 12-inch Retina MacBook Air, expected to arrive this year.

The news comes from Mark Gurman, who received information about the design of the new MacBook.

Internally referred to as “Stealth MacBook,” the 12-inch MacBook Air will have a new form factor that will be much smaller than the current 13-inch model and even slightly narrower than the smaller 11-inch version.

In order to make it so thin, Apple will remove the two standard USB ports, the Thunderbolt and MagSafe charging standards and the SD card slot.

The only ports on the notebook will be a 3.5 mm audio jack and the new USB Type-C port which has a reversible design that allows users to insert a cable in any orientation.

The renditions also show that Cupertino will propose a slightly redesigned keyboard, with very little space between the keys.

The new computer would also have a new audio output, as well as four new holes above the keyboard.
