The iPhone 6s and 7 could come up with a component also used in the Apple Watch, according to new information provided by sources close to Apple and cited by the China Times.
The component is called the Apple S1, and referred to as a System in Package (SiP), a kind of all-in-one, including the processor, sensors, storage and memory.
On a phone, the device would take up less space than a PCB and could thus help to maximize the capacity of the battery.
In addition, it is expected that the iPhone 6s will work with both PCB and SiP, but the SiP modules will be used solely for the iPhone 7.
Apart from implementing larger batteries or components, Apple could reduce the thickness of its smartphones.
