Whitney Houston’s mother says that granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has ‘irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive’

On Saturday, her father Bobby Brown, 46, told the crowd during a Frankie Beverly concert in Dallas that Bobbi Kristina, 22, is “awake,” and that she was “watching” him. He then clarified the comments.

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s father released a statement on Monday about his daughter’s health.

“Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life,” his attorney said in a statement. “However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”

“We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is hearing our prayers,” the statement concluded.

Also on Monday, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s grandmother issued a statement about her granddaughter’s condition.

“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” she said in a statement.

“Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me,” Whitney Houston’s mother continued.

“We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers,” she added.

On January 31, Bobbi Kristina Brown was hospitalized after she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home in Roswell, Georgia, by her longtime boyfriend Nick Gordon and a friend.

She was placed in medically-induced coma and after a while she underwent a tracheotomy.
