Princess Diana’s brother and friends express their delight after royal baby’s name is revealed

Diana was obviously chosen in honor of the Princess of Wales, Prince William’s late mother, who died on August 31, 1997.

And after the name announcement was made, family and friends of the royal couple reacted to Kate and William’s choice.

“Diana’s spirit lives on in her sons, and now her name lives on in her granddaughter.#CharlotteElizabethDiana,” a close friend of Princess Diana, Rosa Monckton, wrote yesterday on her Twitter page.

Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, also expressed his joy after finding out the name, especially as his fifth daughter was also named after his sister.

“Perfect names. My 2-year old Charlotte Diana will be thrilled at cousinly name-sharing. Is at an age where thinks world revolves around her!” Spencer tweeted on Monday, May 4.

The full royal name also includes Elizabeth after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, and Charlotte after her grandfather Prince Charles.
