HRH Duchess of Cambridge
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children are boosting the number of Twitter followers and generate millions of tweets.
Princess Charlotte’s birth alone generated over 1.1 million tweets, while in 2013, when the royal couple welcomed Prince George, Twitter recorded 900,000 messages on the micro-blogging site.
People magazine recently talked to a Kensington Palace spokesperson who revealed that since the first official portraits of Charlotte with her brother were revealed on June 5, the Kensington Palace Twitter account added 78,500 followers and approximately 100,000 on Instagram.
The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, and Prince William haven’t used their accounts to personally tweet, while Prince Harry has sent two tweets.
The tradition has been broken since Kate and William’s daughter’s arrival. The announcement of Princess Charlotte’s birth has been carried out through social media and the same method was used for other important news such as her christening or the first official photos of the royal baby no. 2.
All the announcements related to the royal family are now made on Twitter, Instagram or the Kensington Palace official accounts.
